Signing
Release a contract for signature, sign it in the app or via a link, countersign — and what applies afterwards.
Signing takes three steps: you release the contract, the party signs, the production countersigns. Electronically, each person confirms their signature with a code they receive by e-mail — no outside service is needed for that.
Releasing for signature
At the top of the draft is Release for signature (see Creating a contract). The release freezes the current version and sends it to all parties. From then on the contract is Out for signature; it can only be changed again via Withdraw signature.
Signing as a party
What you are to sign is listed under My work → Sign — and in your notifications. 1 Sign.
The window shows the whole contract with all its clauses. Read it to the end — only then can it be signed.
1 Send code sends you a confirmation code by e-mail; enter it. 2 Sign in the field with your finger, a pen or the mouse. Tick the two boxes below. 3 Sign.
Whoever has no access to the app gets an e-mail with a link and signs there in the same way — with name, code and signature.
If a party belongs to another account, they find the contract in their own account under My work → Sign and sign it there. They do not need to switch into your account for that.
Countersigning
If someone is responsible for the production, that person signs after the party. They also find the contract under Sign, or directly at the contract: 1 Sign.
Signed
After the last signature the contract is Signed. The PDF carries all signatures and an evidence log; the checksum next to it shows that the file is unchanged.
From then on:
- The fee is in the budget as binding.
- The contract is evidence: it can no longer be changed, deleted or given further attachments. Downloading it and sending it by e-mail still work.
- With a Proof of participation, the position then appears as confirmed in the person's public profile.

What happens if …
| If … | then … |
|---|---|
| the code does not arrive | send it again after a short while; it only applies to this one signature. |
| a party is a minor | their legal guardians sign, not they themselves. |
| the term ends | the contract is Expired; it keeps counting in the budget as signed. ModiFax reminds you beforehand. |
| someone wants to change the contract afterwards | that is not possible: first Withdraw signature, then change it, then release it again. |
