Revisions, translations, sides
Record versions of the screenplay as coloured revisions and restore them, have the screenplay translated into other languages and show actors only their own scenes.
Revisions
A revision records the state of the screenplay. From the second revision on, every changed scene gets the colour of the new revision — so the team sees at a glance what is new.
1 The name, suggested as "Revision 2 · date". 2 The revision colour. 3 What this will do: how many scenes get the new colour and what else happens.
When you create it, the breakdown elements of changed scenes are marked for review, and locked translations of those places are released again. The first revision only records the current state as a basis. If nothing has changed since the last one, the revision is still created — it records the state.
All versions stand under Revisions. Restore the revision brings an older version back, Delete the revision removes it. Viewing, creating and deleting revisions are rights of their own.
Translations
1 Translate by hand sets up the language: every line shows the original text, you write over it. 2 Translate with AI translates everything at once and afterwards only what changed — with the AI features in the account's package.
First you Set the working language — the language the screenplay is written in. If you choose another language that has no translation yet, the screenplay asks how it is translated; the AI translates paragraph by paragraph. What has not been translated yet stands under Not translated yet; you select single paragraphs or everything.
A passage you translate by hand becomes a special translation: it is excluded from the AI translation and stays as you wrote it. Such translations wait for a release — Release or Release all is for whoever has the right to it. If the original text changes later, the special translation is marked "to check". Reset translations takes the hand translation away from selected places and has them translated again.
Sides
Actors do not need the whole screenplay. With the right to Sides, the Screenplay tab opens directly on their own scenes, with no way into the rest. In the team you choose a role and see its sides: the scenes it appears in, with the number of its dialogue lines.
What happens when …
| When … | then … |
|---|---|
| you create a revision | the scenes changed since the last revision get its colour; their breakdown elements are to be checked. |
| you restore a revision | its text applies again; the later revisions stay in the list. |
| the original of a special translation changes | it is marked "to check" and not overwritten. |
| you lack the right to release | you see the open releases but cannot give them. |
| an actor may only see sides | they see only the scenes of their role. |
