Overview
How user, account and membership fit together — and which route applies to you.
Before you start, three terms are worth a moment. They explain almost everything you will run into later: why one sign-in lets you work for several companies, why some areas are visible and others are not, and why a colleague sees the same application quite differently.
User, account, membership
Take John: he has an account of his own and also works for Sample Films Ltd.

- User: that is you as a person, with sign-in and profile. You have exactly one user, no matter how many companies you work for.
- Account: the workspace the data lives in: projects, shooting days, media, invoices. The subscription hangs off the account. It decides which areas are usable and how many devices are allowed.
- Membership: the connection between you and an account. It carries your role, your position and your groups and decides what you may do in exactly that account. Owner in one account, user in another: both at once work.
In the app you see both at the same time: the account name top left, your profile name bottom left.
If your own account has no name yet, it is called “My workspace”.
Every user has an account of their own. It is created automatically with the registration and stays yours even if you leave a company. It is never empty and never useless: if you no longer belong to any other account, yours automatically receives the free package.
Which route applies to you?
Several accounts, one user
If you work for several companies or look after clients, you do not need a second sign-in. Your memberships hang off the same user; you switch the view inside the application.
1 Open the sidebar.
2 Tap the account switcher at the top.
3 Pick the accounts you want to work with: here your own account and that of Sample Films Ltd.
Afterwards every list shows the data of the selected accounts side by side, and each record is labelled with its account. Pick exactly one account and the application behaves like a single company — no labels, no follow-up questions when you create something.
Data never mixes. The selection only decides what you see. Anything you create always belongs to exactly one account — with several accounts selected, the application asks which one first.
