Registration
Create an account of your own – with a password, Google or Microsoft – or follow an invitation, also into a company with company sign-in (SSO).
Two routes lead to a sign-in. They differ in what you start with:
- Register yourself: with an e-mail address and password, or with your Google or Microsoft account. You get an account of your own with the free package and can create your own projects straight away.
- Follow an invitation: you work in the account of the company that invited you. If you have no sign-in yet, your own account is created along the way, at first without a package. If you already have one, your account stays as it is. If the company requires company sign-in (SSO), you sign in for its account through its provider.
Creating an account yourself
Fill in the form
- First and last name: this is how you appear to your team, in projects and in shares.
- E-mail address: the confirmation code goes there. It later is your sign-in address.
- Password: at least 8 characters, upper- and lower-case letters, a digit and a special character. The display below the field shows which rule is still missing.
- Consent: the privacy policy, the terms and the cancellation policy open straight from the form.
- Create account sends the form.
Instead of a password you can also register with your Google or Microsoft account, see Registering with Google or Microsoft.
Hints for missing details
If something is missing, one sentence right under the field says what is still needed. The hint disappears as soon as the detail fits.
Read the legal texts
A click on one of the legal texts opens it in full above the form. What you entered stays.
Send the form
Once all password rules are met and the box is ticked, you send the form with Create account.
Enter the code from the e-mail
- Enter the six-digit code from the e-mail.
- Confirm with Create account.
This is what the e-mail with the code looks like.
No e-mail? Look in your spam folder. Send code again sends a new code, Change e-mail takes you back to the address.
The code is valid only for a short time and only once. If it has expired, simply request a new one.
Set up a passkey (optional)
With a passkey you sign in from now on with your fingerprint, face recognition or device PIN, with no password at all. You can set it up now or later in your profile.
Register the device
On the first start the app asks whether this device may use your account. Next to each account it says how many devices are already registered there and how many are allowed, for example 1/2. Tap it or point at it with the mouse and it says so in words: how many you have registered and how many are still free. More under Devices.
Get started
Then your dashboard opens. Your account starts with the free package. You can book further packages any time under Subscription.
Registering with Google or Microsoft
Instead of name, address and password you can also create your account with your Google or Microsoft account. Registering and signing in are the same button: if your address is still unknown, your account is created. If it is known, you are signed in to your existing account.
Choose a provider
Below the form, under or continue with, are the two providers: Google (1) and Microsoft (2). A click takes you to the provider; you leave the app for it.
Sign in at the provider and consent
Google's own page at accounts.google.com. With Microsoft it is login.microsoftonline.com.
Sign in there with your account. The first time, the provider asks whether it may pass on your e-mail address, your name and an identifier, nothing more. We never see your password at the provider.
Back in the app
The provider sends you back and your account is created. No e-mail code is needed; the provider has already confirmed your address. Then it goes on as with registering with a password: passkey (optional), register the device, get started.
An account created this way has no password at first. If you also want to sign in with a password, you create one in your profile under Choose a password. More about the route through the provider under Signing in → Signing in with Google or Microsoft.
Following an invitation
If someone invites you into their company's account, you receive an invitation e-mail. It says who invites you, into which account and with which role.
Accept invitation opens the invitation page. Only with your confirmation there do you become a member. The link is valid for 7 days. What the page offers depends on whether a sign-in already exists for your address.
Invited without a sign-in of your own
Set a password
Name and e-mail address come from the invitation and are fixed. You only set your password and agree to the legal texts.
Create the account
Create account sends a confirmation code to the invited address. You enter it right on the page, as above with your own registration. Then you are a member and the app opens.
Register the device
Only the account that invited you can be chosen: the device slots come from its package.
Load offline data (optional)
If the account is enabled for offline use, the offer to load its data follows. With Later you catch up on it any time through the sync status in the header.
Add a private e-mail address
Your sign-in came about through a company's invitation, and the address you sign in with may belong to the company. That is why the app asks once for a private address:
- Enter your private e-mail address.
- Send verification code — the code goes to this private address.
- Or: if the address you were invited with already is your own, choose “… is already my private address”. Then there is nothing more to do.
- Enter the code from the e-mail to your private address.
- Confirm — the window closes.
If you leave the company later, your sign-in automatically continues through this private address. You can change it any time in your profile under Security.
Get started
The account name is at the top left, your profile name at the bottom left.
After that:
Your own account stays without a package
Devices come from the inviting account
You only see what you can use
Working independently later
If you also want to run projects of your own, you book the free package for your own account any time. From then on everything works as with registering yourself.
You are never left without a sign-in. If you are removed from the account you worked in, your sign-in continues from then on through your private address, and your own account stays yours. If you no longer belong to any other account, it automatically receives the free package.
Invited with a sign-in of your own
If you already have a sign-in with the invited address, you join with it. Your own account and its package stay as they are.
Sign in and join
- Enter your password. The address is fixed.
- Sign in and join signs you in and accepts the invitation.
Instead of the password you can also sign in with Google, Microsoft, passkey or QR code, as described under Signing in.
Already signed in? One click is enough
If you are already signed in with the invited address in this browser, the page names the address. Accept invitation makes you a member.
Welcome
The page confirms the membership. To the dashboard opens the app.
Register the device for the new account too
If this browser is already registered for your own account, the app asks straight away whether it should apply to the new account too. Only then do you work in it here. With Not on this device you catch up on this later under Devices.
Someone else is signed in
If you open the invitation in a browser in which another person is signed in, the page names both addresses before anything happens. If you sign in below with the invited address, the other person is signed out in this browser.
Into a company with company sign-in (SSO)
Some companies open their data only after a sign-in through their own company directory: Microsoft Entra ID or Google Workspace. You still sign in to the app itself as usual — with password, passkey, Google or Microsoft. For the company's account, the sign-in with your company account comes on top: the account your company set up for you at Microsoft or Google. There is no registration of its own through company sign-in; you always come in through the company's invitation.
| You are … | What happens |
|---|---|
| newly invited and have no sign-in yet | You register through the invitation as above. When you then open the company, you sign in once with your company account. |
| invited and already have a sign-in | You join with your sign-in as above. Your own account stays as it is; only the company asks for your company account. |
| already a member when the company switches it on | You receive the notification Company sign-in required. The next time you open the company, the app asks for your company account, see Signing in → Company sign-in. |
| the company's owner or one of its customers | Nothing changes for you. |
The address of your company account does not have to be the one you were invited with. What matters is that the account belongs to the company's directory. The first time, the app links your company account with you; after that it only lets you in. The sign-in holds for 24 hours on this device, then the app asks again. Everything about company sign-in on one page is under Company sign-in (SSO).
Newly invited
Register and register the device
Follow the invitation as under Invited without a sign-in of your own: set a password, enter the code, register the device. Up to here everything is as with any other company.
Sign in with the company account
Instead of the dashboard, this page appears.
- Sign in with Microsoft (or Google, depending on the company) takes you to the company's provider. Sign in there with your company account, not with a private one.
- End membership in case the invitation was a mistake. You only leave the company's account.
Work in the company
Back from the provider, the company's dashboard opens and you work like every other member.
With a sign-in of your own
Join and register the device
Accept the invitation as under Invited with a sign-in of your own and register the browser for the company too. Afterwards you go on working in your own account as before.
The company in the account switcher
In the account switcher at the top of the sidebar the company shows with a lock and the notice Company sign-in needed until you have signed in with the company account on this device.
Sign in with the company account
A tap on the company opens the same page as above. Sign in with Microsoft takes you to the company's provider; sign in there with your company account. Back takes you to your own account without company sign-in.
Does the sign-in not work? Usually a private account was still signed in at the provider. What the app says then and what you do is under Signing in → If company sign-in is turned away.
Where to go next
- Signing in: every way back into your account
- Devices: manage registered browsers and devices
- Overview: user, account and membership
