Working offline
Taking the data onto the device, the offline switch, waiting changes, conflicts and what signing out does.
With offline mode you keep working without a network. Your accounts' data then lies on the registered device; what you change waits there and goes out by itself as soon as you are online again. Offline mode belongs to an account's package.
Taking the data onto the device
1 Once you registered a device, the app offers to take the data along: Download all.
All offline data downloaded — from now on it works without a network too.
The offline switch
1 At the top, the status shows whether you are online. 2 With Offline mode you work offline on purpose, before a location without a network, for example.
1 Offline, a bar shows how many changes are waiting. 2 They go out by themselves as soon as you are online again.
1 What needs a connection, the media pool for example, is locked offline and says so.
Signing out does not work offline — the waiting changes would be lost.
When two people change the same thing
If someone changed the same thing while you were offline, the app shows both versions. 1 Choose per field, 2 or take All mine, 3 then Resolve the conflicts.
Signing out
Signing out deletes the offline data from the device.
What happens when …
| When … | then … |
|---|---|
| the network is gone | you keep working; changes wait on the device and go out as soon as it is back. |
| you show several accounts and only one has offline mode | work goes on with that one, and the bar says only in the accounts with offline mode. If none has it, the app waits for the connection. |
| a project is taken from you — you left the team, another department, taken out as a client | the app reads its lists again at once; what you may no longer see is gone offline too. Changes not sent yet stay. |
| that happened while the browser was closed | the app notices it on the next start and reads the data again. |
| a change arrives twice because the answer got lost on the way | there is still only one entry. |
| you change something offline that someone has deleted meanwhile | the conflict dialog shows that it was deleted on the server. |
| you sign out | the offline data is deleted from the device. |
What only works with a connection
Offline you work with everything that is on the device: projects, scenes, shooting days, call sheets, roles, locations, tasks, budget, contracts, daily and sound reports, your times. What needs a service, a file from the server or a second person, on the other hand, is locked offline and says so:
